The Honorable Dorothy Rabb Brown, 1st African American Cook County Clerk of Circuit Court On Tuesday, November 7, 2000, Soror Brown became the first African-American to be elected Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, winning overwhelmingly by a 4-1 margin. Just six months earlier, she won the Democratic Primary against the slated party candidate and two other previously elected officials. The Circuit Court of Cook County is the largest, unified court system in the world, and the Clerk's Office has a workforce of some 2,300 employees, as well as an annual operating budget of nearly $100 million. Dixon National Vice Chair, National Society of Black Engineers Soror Dixon currently serves as the 2004-2005 National Vice Chairperson of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). NSBE is an international non-profit organization with over 15,000 members worldwide. Candice has served in numerous other leadership positions in NSBE and has also been recognized as a NSBE Torchbearer and 2001 NSBE Fellow. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Information Systems from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and is employed as an Associate Engineer at Northrop Grumman.
